Lone Star Quidditch Club (LSQC) recovered from a Day One loss to Texas State University – San Marcos and scare against the Los Angeles Gambits to win its Round of 16 match against Michigan Quidditch. After a play-in victory for LSQC over the University of Minnesota, Michigan suicide grabbed to end its season, 110-40*.

“I’m happy with the way we played that match,” said LSQC captain Stephen Bell. “We haven’t been able to play at our pace the last few matches, and it was fun to finally be able to get out and run a little bit.”

Lone Star grabbed control of the match immediately with a quick 60-0 run within eight minutes. Michigan struggled to regain bludger control against Lone Star’s beaters and gave up too many early fast breaks to stay competitive. Michigan packed its own defense close to the hoops, which Lone Star responded to with a few nicely floated mid-range shots from its armada of a chasing line.

Michigan was only able to muster a single goal after a missed LSQC beat, and ends its season with a record of 4-2 at World Cup 8. Lone Star Quidditch Club advances to play the winner of Texas State University vs. Michigan State University in the quarterfinals.
